For the tenth entry of my NBA analysis blogs, I will be talking about the unexpected power-house in the LA Clippers. With the likes of all-stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the team was obviously a playoff team, but who would have known they would have won 10 straight, and at one point in the season were first in the league. The top reasons that the team has unexpectedly been so good is because of Chris Paul's passing ability and Jamal Crawford.
First of all, Chris Paul is the absolute best point guard in the NBA. Not only does he average around 20 points per game, but he also averages 10 assists per game! Most of these assists come from amazing alley-oop passes to players such as Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. However, CP3 has needed support, and this has been accomplished by many players, but one that stands out is Jamal Crawford. Famous for his crossover, Jamal Crawford has been lighting up the NBA with his amazing moves and unreal scoring ability. Jamal Crawford will likely be 6th man of the year in the NBA, and it is well deserved. So for the reasons of Chris Paul's passing talent, and Jamal Crawfords improvement, the LA Clippers are one of the most unexpected very strong forces in the NBA.

Toronto Raptors: Canada's only NBA team
Currently, as the only NBA team located in Canada, the Toronto Raptors have an impressive future outlook. Landing Rudy Gay, who was the leading scorer for Memphis, the Raptors future is surely looking up. Other future stars on Raptors include Demar Derozan, and Terrence Ross, the winner of the Sprite Slam Dunk competition. So outlooks that the Toronto Raptors need to improve on? Well in this entry I will be listing the 3 main factors the Raptors are missing.
First of all, with the loss of their main facilitator in Jose Calderon, the Raptors don't have a strong enough "pass first" point guard. This will result in loss of assists, therefore the entire team getting less chances and points. Secondly, the Raptors have star power in new players Lawry and Gay, however, the team hasn't found a way to bond together quite like other top teams have. While watching the raptors play, you can tell they have a play for themselves mentality, this making them not as strong. If they would play together, such as the Miami Heat, there is no doubt that the Raptors would be in playoff contention. Lastly, the Raptors are missing a big man in the post. Hopefully the Raptors will see this, and fight for upcoming chances at all stars such as Kevin Love, which would surely make the Toronto Raptors a strong contender in the NBA.
For the reasons of not having a strong enough point guard, not bonding well enough, and not having a strong big man, the Toronto Raptors aren't currently sitting in a playoff position even with a few stars on their team. Their time will come however.

Boston Celtics: Over-rated
In my series of blogs analyzing NBA teams, players and coaches, some of the most under-rated teams have came up as topics. Never though has an over-rated team come up, and today I will be talking about possibly the most over-rated team in the league, the Boston Celtics. For reasons such as low intensity, no real superstar, and lack of consistency, the Boston Celtics have to be named the most over-rated team in the NBA.
To begin, the Celtics play with incredibly low intensity. With players like Kevin Garnett, who think they are really intense, are sadly mistaken. Kevin Garnett is well past his prime and plays at an extremely slow pace. With his lack of speed and impact, I would not be surprised if he retired very soon.
The Boston Celtics are lacking that true star power you find on many other other contending teams. Even though Paul Pierce was once a force to be reckoned with, he doesn't have near the power he use to. Especially with up and coming star Rajon Rondo injured, the Celtics don't have a "go to" player anymore.
The Boston Celtics are a very inconsistent team. If you have been watching them play the past few seasons, the wins come in spurts, as do the losses however. The Celtics struggle to keep leads, and struggle to gain win streaks. Even though the Celtics are good enough to make the playoffs, they are looked up at by far too many teams, and I assure you, I would not bet a penny on them getting anywhere near the NBA Finals.

New York Knicks: The Silent Superstars
In this entry of my NBA analyis blog, I will list 3 reasons that the Knicks could make for some unbelievale playoff upsets. The New York Knicks are one of the less talked about teams in the NBA, but they are very strong competitors. Currently in 4th in the Eastern Conference, without injuries they would surely be higher. Here are the 3 main reasons that the New York Knicks could overpower some strong teams in the playoffs this year, and make it further than expected:
1.) Carmelo Anthony is a super star. Not only does he average over 25 points per game, but he has the ability to score 40+. He is also brings offensive domination to the league, with the ability to take nearly anyone on 1 vs. 1.
2.) Strong bench players have won many games for the New York Knicks this season. For example, the likely 6th man of the year in JR Smith has hit 3 game winners this year, the most in the entire league for a bench player. The Knicks also have precision shooter Steve Novak, and strong point guard Raymond Felton coming off the bench. Surely the Knicks have one of the most dominant benches in the league.
3.) The New York Knicks have a very capable coach in Mike Woodson. Not only did he make great off season acquisitions, but he has been able to lead an injury prone team to near the top of their division, and hold that spot all season. Without Mike Woodson, the fate of the Knicks surely wouldn't be nearly as positive as it is now.
Overall, the 4th placed team in the East, the New York Knicks, have the potential to be in the top 1 or 2 places for sure, and will be sure to make a huge impact come playoffs.
Kelly Olynyk, the next NBA star
As another entry to my NBA blog, today I will be outlining one of the up and coming stars to the NBA, Kelly Olynyk. Today I will be highlighting the will be first round draft pick with his diversity, as well as his basketball integrity. Olynyk, the Kamloops native, will surely make a great impact on the NBA courts.
Kelly Olynyk will be one of the most diverse players in the NBA next year. Standing at 6 foot 11, Olynyk is the size of a center but the big man can also shoot. Averaging 40% from the three point line this year, he has an amazing outside shot. As he will also put on more muscle in the off season, Olynyk will also be a dominant force in the paint. With his post moves improving, Olynyk's post game will just continue to improve.
Kelly Olynyk has great integrity in the way he plays basketball, being able to adapt at whatever challenges comes his way. In high school, the big man could play in the post, but was also willing to bring the ball up as point guard when his coach told him to do so. Also, last year at Gonzaga, Olynyk sat the year out to train hard, get stronger and improve his post game to better his team. This year, he improved so much as to take his team to the first seed! Kelly is surely willing to do whatever he needs to make his team better. With his diverse game play, and the integrity Kelly Olynyk plays with, he will surely be an up and coming basketball all star!!!

Brooklyn Nets: Underrated
As another entry to my sports analysis blog, I will be unraveling the reasons why the Brooklyn Nets are the most underrated team in the NBA. The main reasons I make for this claim is they're underrated superstars, and consistency. Even though the Brooklyn Nets are 4th in the Eastern Conference, they are clearly a stronger team and could make for some huge upsets this year.
The Brooklyn Nets have many huge superstars that just aren't talked about due to bigger stars in the league such as Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Dwayne Wade. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are two stars on the Nets that can command the floor, and both are in the top 20 in the NBA, they just aren't as well known. With these two stars both averaging over 15 points per game, the Brooklyn Nets could be in for a long playoff run.
The Brooklyn Nets are one of the most consistent teams in the NBA. This year, they have failed to fall out of playoff contention, and have stayed in the top half of their conference. Unlike many other teams, they have failed to burn out to large losing streaks, thus the team has been playing at a consistently high intensity. With the superstars that the Nets have acquired this year, and their undeniable consistency, the team that is 4th in the East is surely underrated.
5 reasons the LA Lakers won't win the title
Continuing with my sports team analysts, the next team on the block is the LA Lakers. Los Angeles is currently in 8th in the western conference of the NBA, and they will surely not win the NBA title. Why one may ask? Well, I will give you the top 5 reasons.
1.) Kobe Bryant is as selfish of a player as they come. Yes, he is a 5 time NBA champion, and yes he is an all-star, but he is just way to selfish. With acquisition of Steve Nash, Kobe should be letting Nash dish out the ball to the open players, rather than Kobe trying to do everything himself.
2.) The LA Lakers have had far to many injuries. With key players such as Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard missing many games, it is hard to be consistent on the court.
3.) Dwight Howard not living up to his potential is another reason the Lakers won't win. In Orlando, he was an all-star, however since coming to LA he is mediocre at best. And his free throws... terrible!
4.) The Lakers bench is far too weak to reach the depth in the playoffs that is needed to reach the finals.
5.) The LA Lakers are a slow paced, aging team. Most of their starting line-up, for example, is over the age of 30! The Lakers need to acquire some new, young talent.
Even though the Lakers do have a playoff spot, it would be safe to say that they will be extremely lucky to even make it past the first round of playoffs in the NBA.

Oklahoma City Thunder
If the Miami Heat don't win the NBA championship this year, OKC will. Being the first in the league in total point differentiation, as well as offensive rating, they are definitely a force to be reckoned with. The reason that they are so good is their amazing, young lineup, however the one thing that may be preventing them from a championship? A terrible trade of James Harden may have effected the teams overall ability to win. Overall the could be championship team in OKC Thunder are going to struggle if they keep making drastic errors.
For a team who in the early 2000's was consistently in the bottom of the league, the OKC, currently sitting at 2nd in the West, is one of the top competitors in the NBA. All of their success can be attributed to their all stars in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The two all-stars were drafted by the team, and developed in to their current lead roles. The duo are currently averaging 52.5 ppg together, and are leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a top seed in the playoffs.
James Harden, who has won 6th man of the year, was traded to the Houston Rockets for next to nothing in return. It just so happens that with more playing time, he bloomed into the current 7th leading scorer in the NBA. Had this trade not have happened, the OKC Thunder would certainly be at an even more elite status in the NBA. All in all, the trades OKC made this season have effected their ability to win a championship, but with the progression of their two superstars, they may be able to win a championship in the near future.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Continuing along on the best sports analysis blog on the web, I will not be analyzing the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA. Even though they are not playoff bound, they have one of the strongest rosters in the NBA. The reason so many good players can't pull it together to make the playoffs? Injuries. The should be leading scorers of this team have been on the injured list nearly all season. Ricky Rubio and Kevin love are both NBA All-Stars who have been injured for a majority to this year. However this team does have potential, and in this blog I will be in-depth analyzing the best players off of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sporting the title of one of the most tricky players in the NBA, Ricky Rubio is on of the main building blocks that Minnesota has. Gone professional at 14 in the Spanish ACB league, Ricky Rubio is regarded as one of the best European guard prospects ever. Ricky Rubio was 5th overall pick in the 2009 entry draft, and is extremely talented. He has amazing control with the ball, very tricky moves, and fluent movement. Rubio is also a pass first point guard, creating many chances for his teammates. Overall Rubio has the ability to see the floor and make his team better.
Kevin Love is one of the most feared big men in the NBA, with his ability to play down low and from outside the arc. Love is a great scorer and rebounder, holding the record for most double-doubles in a row since the NBA merger. Love is a 1 time All-Star in the NBA as well, showing his dominance on the boards. Surely if Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio would not have been injured, they would have been able to show their dominance. There is always next year, if there are no more injuries that it.

Sports Analysis: Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are by far the most flawless team in the NBA. Even though Miami are third in the National Basketball League, in my opinion they will win their second straight NBA championship this year. What are the reasons that I believe that Miami is an unstoppable force who will win? Well, the Heat have the most depth, the best coach and they also have the best player, Lebron James. With these factors in mind, I will show you in detail how the third best team in the NBA will be winning the NBA championship this year.
The Miami Heat are the most well rounded team in the NBA, with the best starting line-up, as well as one of the strongest set of bench players. With the "Big 3" in the starting lineup, as well as veterans such as Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and Mike Miller coming off the bench, the Heat are always on a offensive rampage. With so many huge names in the basketball community all residing on one team, it's hard not to be a great team. With other teams having their best players starting, and hardly anyone to rely on when their stars are refueling on the sideline, the Heat always have the advantage of having great players on at all times, even if Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh are tired.
It is certain that the coach of the Miami Heat, Erik Spoelstra, deserves the Coach of the Year award for the NBA. He has made many huge decisions to push the Miami Heat to the next level of greatness, leading to their championship run last year. Some of his great decisions this year included picking up Ray Allen and Chris Anderson, as well as letting Lebron James show his leadership in running the show.
It can be easily said that with a two time MVP, and last years NBA Finals MVP player, Lebron James, any team is a force to be reckoned with. Lebron James is the most effective player in the NBA, and can dominate on any team. With the Miami Heat having so many great qualities about them, such as their bench, their coach and their best player, Lebron James, the Miami Heat will be able to make another long playoff run, most likely resulting in another championship.

Evil (Assingment #9)
As the tapered barrel of my Smith and Wesson glimmers in the luminous Sunlight, They do not speak
The privledge of simplicity was withdrawn when we walked into the building
Victims, Hostages... They are horrified
They do not know that down into the intellectual pathways of my mental capacity,
I have no intentions to injure. They are not in danger; I am
If I let him down once more... I am extinguished like the flame of a dormant fireplace
As my dominant hand becomes an earthquake, I glimpse down at the gun and,
It speaks to me. It is urging me to shoot these innocent bystanders; I tried to reason with it
"He will do it if you don't"
But I didn't want to. I feel like James Bond as everyone stares at me, intimidation in their eyes
I want to leave, but I am scared for these people.
As I'm rifling through the pockets in my mind, a man tries to stand up.
I suddenly black out. My eyes open to terror filled eyes... and the man laying there...
Dead
My tears are a waterfall, but I swiftly wipe them away.
I should have known this was going to happen.
Who even let's a schizophrenic out of the psychiatric hospital anyways?
I asked the banker for some money. He solemnly opened his register
But there was not enough. There was a black flash, and as I regained complete conciousness,
He was Dead
I could hear sirens in the background
The bloodsplattered floors of the bank that day paint my mind like and empty canvass
"Finish them, finish them all!" That is all that he kept telling me in my head
But I didn't want to.
I tried to release my hardened grip on the gun, But my hand was a sharks jaw on some prey
The gun bit me, and screamed, "It's time! Do away with them or I will"
But I didn't want to.
Internally my mind was an inferno in the deepest pits of hell
Fighting for my actions
I pointed the gun to my head... and cocked it back... but I suddenly blacked out.
I had awoken by the SWAT team rushing into the bank
Bulldozing me over, and cuffing me up.
Elders, Mothers, Fathers, Teenagers, Children all scattered...
Dead
Only one of us left the bank that day, as I was sure my concious state would
rot in the darkest abyss for the rest of eternity
The evil could live on inside me,
until I got my medication at least

Weird Al Yankovic - Jerry Springer (Assingment #7)
It's been, one week since we got to see,
Cheatin' lovers and cousins that marry
5 days since they had the show with the hermaphrodit
the ****, and the crackhoe
3 days since we heard the tale about the guy who learned
his woman was a she-male.
Yesterday, it occured to me, that I'd been watching a bit too much Jerry Springer
Holy cow, didya see it last week?
Well they had this one freak,
Who suckered punched his whole family
Do you recall when the brawl became a total 'free-for-all'
and jerry's in the middle trying to be the referee?
Hey, see the stripper with the implants?
She likes to lap-dance, and date the boyfriend of her mother
Now here comes Jerry's next guest, and it's a slug fest cuz
it's her trailer trash brother
Nymphomaniac is back on crack it's like when animals attack
they all exhibit reprehensible behaviour
hit em in the nose tear off their clothes step on their toes thats how it goes
they get so violent they have to sign a waiver.
They're always swearin' cursin' kickin' butt and pointin' blame
on the air they dont care they got no shame.
There was one guy I'm sure he felt a little strange, when he found
out that his wife had a sex change
They have a tendency to scream and yell constantly,
They have a history of ripping off their shirts...
It's been one week since they had the fight,
with the Siamese twins and the transvestite
5 days since that awful brawl,
They still haven't got the blood off the wall
Yesterday, it finally dawned on me, that I'd been watching
a bit too much Jerry Springer
[Spoken]Baby, I've been sleeping with your sister.
Ugh! Which one?
All of 'em!
Well I've been sleeping with you're best friend, Jay!
Yeah? Well, well...
Me too and I've been sleeping with your dog, Woofie
Woofie, you *****! Well I'm also sleepin' with your pet goat!
That goat doesn't love you!
Once you start watching, there's just no stopping
Your brain shuts down, and your IQ's dropping.
Jerry's the king of confrontation, he's a sensation, he puts the sin
in sindication
He's totally worthless like a bad check, he's a train wreck,
Don't want to stare, but you can't look away.
Like Sally Jesse, he does talk shows, but with more weirdos,
The rating's jumping higher every day
If you've seen the show, then you know it's about as low
as you can go,
The guests are tacky, and they're lacking in their hygiene
Then pretty soon, some ugly goon comes in the room, and then
it's boom in the face of some unsuspecting drag queen
Well it's the kind of show where people scream obscenities,
yanking hair, throwing chairs at their hubbies.
Jerry, Jerry, now the crowd starts their favourite chant
Should I turn off my TV?
I just can't
I have a tendency to watch it religiously, I have a history
of taping each one
It's been one week since the show about,
Psycho killers with problems they should work out
5 days since the big surprise, when some loser's wife said
that shes still datin' 20 guys,
3 days since the interview, a bunch of psychic pornstar midgets
who were all nude,
Yesterday it occured to me, that I've been watching
a bit too much jerry Springer
Tired of wasting my time on that Jerry Springer,
I've got way too much class to watch Jerry Springer
The most corrupt show still produced on todays telivision network is run by the man who has been the Mayor of Cincinnati, won seven local Emmys, and has even had Pope John Paul II in his audience! Jerry Springer, the host of "The Jerry Springer Show" even has a parody song based on his unappropriate television show. The song "Jerry Springer" by Weird Al Yankovic emphasises the unacceptable conduct on the Jerry Springer Show that has been accepted in our society. The main poetic device expressed in this song is satire. The song satires society in the way that we have accepted obscure natured programming into our regular entertainment, and when the narrator questions if he should "turn off [his] TV," he explains, "he simply can't." This emphasizes how our modern day society are becoming reliant on obscene forms of entertainment, and how people have become addicted. The narrator explains how "[he has] a tendency to watch it religiously, [he has] a history of taping each one," even though the shows are about such disturbing and unorthodox cocepts such as incest, cheating and brawling. He even explains that the show is about as low as you can go, yet he still watches it! It is worrisome how our civilized idealogy finds these concepts viable for our television stations. The second poetic device expressed in this song is irony. The entire song the narrator over explains how repulsive and taboo the show is with such things as "Psycho killers with problems... [and] psychic pornstar midgets who were all nude." He also explains how he films all of the episodes, concluding he enjoys watching the show. However, the concluding sentence of the song provides the reasoning that "[he has] got way too much class to watch Jerry Springer," which is ironic how he has praised the show for being entertaining the entire time. Thinking back on what he has watched on the show was the only realise that he should stop watching the show, and it is very unclassy. Another poetic device in the song is simile. The narrator explains how watching Jerry Springer is "totally worthless like a bad check," because a bad check would refer to an expired or blank check, which is worth nothing, and he is refering to watching Jerry Springer is worth nothing, just a mere waste of time. Another simile is when he explains that a "nymphomaniac is back on crack it's like when animals attack," which he refers to a nymphomaniac on crack is as dangerous and reluctant to stop like an attack from a unsafe animal such as a bear, shark or pirahna. Another very obvious device incorporated in this song is personification. In the readers description of the show, he exclaims how "the rating's [jump] higher every day," yet in reality the ratings go up, they cannot "jump". Saying the ratings have jumped higher every day is just putting emphasis on the fact that the ratings shoot up every day because the show is becoming more popular. Figurative language is another technique Weird Al Yankovic uses in this song. When explaining how Jerry Springer "[is] a train wreck," he doesn't literally mean that he is a train wreck, but he uses the comparison to make him seem damaged. Another example of figurative language is when he makes the joke about a couple arguing and how one is "sleepin' with [their] pet goat," isn't meant to be taken literally, but made only to show how stupid the show really is. This final poetic device in the song is understatement. When the narrator explains about a guy who "felt a little strange, when he found out that his wife had a sex change," it is easy to say the the husband would feel more then a little strange if this happened and he was not told. Saying that he would feel a little strange is almost the complete opposite of what would happen, as he would feel very strange, and likely not be able to trust her ever again. Overall, the song "Jerry Springer" by Weird Al Yankovic is loaded with poetic devices.

Dear Santa Claus,
How has your year been? I've had a genuinely amazing year! I have been so well behaved, it may be surprising. I know in recent years I have been of devious and mischievous nature, yet with an open and generous heart, I have changed into the model citizen. My year has been spent volunteering, teaching basketball to the handicapped, becoming a mainstream rapper who will give all profits to charity, as well I have donated numerous amount of hours to the construction of a homeless shelter. Even though once this year I have made the naughty mistake of sharpening my pencil when the teacher was delivering a heartfelt lecture, the overall notion of my actions over the course of this year has been positive. In the new year I plan on keeping up my volunteering of instructing basketball, as well as teaching blind kids how to read braille. I hope you understand to what extent I have had a positive influence on everyone this year, and how much of a well rounded person I have become.
This Christmas, I understand you may not provide everything on my list, but I appreciate all attempts to fulfill my requests. First of all, I would like world peace. If that in general is to hard to provide, I completely understand! I have devoted a large chunk of my life at attempting this, and it will be a very hard quest to conquer. However I would appreciate any help you can give. I would also like a new basketball, which would help me teach more handicapped children who are determined to succeed in the sport. Even though the basketball is not so much for me, you can consider it my request, so they can have a chance to receive more presents. Also I would like some supplies to support the building of the construction of a homeless shelter in my town. If you cannot, I would appreciate if you provided more hours in a day so I can work harder and longer at making more people happy. I greatly appreciate you reading this letter, and fully understand that not every wish can be met, but any attempt will be greatly appreciated! I sincerely hope you have a great year, and will succeed in all of your dreams.

The Perfect Candidate (Assingment #6)
Usually, humans use schooling to develop and learn. Usually, humans practice to become perfect. Usually, humans grow more knowledgeable over time. However I am far from usual. I've never needed to learn anything at all...Ever. I've never failed at anything in my life... Ever. I've never needed to put in effort... Ever.
I know you want someone who is a leader, and a role model for your college. Well, Chuck Norris is a fictional character... based on me. Well, Hercules is also based on me... translated "Hearncules" in Latvian. Well, Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream" was never actually screaming, until he got intimidated by me. Not even Beckham can bend it like Brayden. Not even Gretzky will call himself the 'Great One' around me. Not even Osama dares to hide from me. I was born in 7 different places. Only 3 people knew my middle name. They are dead. I race wheelchairs for a living. A stare from me is cough medicine, I scare away the cold.
I know you want someone who is exceptional and inspirational for your college. Believe me, I have counted to infinity. Twice. Believe me, I am what Willis was talking about. Believe me, I can touch Mc Hammer. I once at a full sheet of rice paper, and regurgitated origami swans. I once ordered a Big Mac, and was only charged $2.99. I once ate a bag of skittles, and tasted the rainbow. Tim Tebow kneel prayers only to think of me. I have done the dougie with Steven Hawking. 3 times. I taught Free Willy how to swim. I've played Go Fish with Jaws. I once performed surgery... on myself. I have never lost a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. My existence was once proved on Mythbusters. I actually sweat out Gatorade.
I know you want someone who is a caring and admiring individual for your college. I patched the holes in our Ozone layer with one breath. I cured AIDS by using my mind. I started global warming. I was cold. I seem perfect, because I am. I am the most interesting guy in the world, literally. I have Danced with the Stars. Real stars not phony actors and athletes. The illuminati and conspiracy theories was my first troll attempt. Diseases are afraid to contaminate me, in fear I will put it into extinction.
I think you've got the idea. People consider me a leader. People consider me a role model. People consider me a helper. People consider me a god. The god. I have been nearly everything possible, yet I have never been a college student

Losing Communication

Losing Communication
“Cell-fishness hits an all-time high, a backlash against mobile devices includes outright bans.” This reassures the concept that the over usage of cell phones in this generation is the antithesis of respectfulness, formality and etiquette. The article “Public Display of Affection”, by Maclean’s Magazine, articulates how we as “the most consequential generation in more then a century,” yet we lack the capability to not indulge in our cellular conversations rather then staying preoccupied with our real life situations. Director of the Protocol School of Washington believes that “we’re losing our one-on-one skills and ability to engage in uninterrupted, focused conversations.” The lack of necessity that our generation places on communication is a major problem, in which we are in dire need to adjust our mindsets.
This article is compelling and revealing to the truth of how in today’s day and age priority is often placed on cellular conversations rather then face to face conversations, eating at restaurants and even sex. Just because people have the ability to multitask, that doesn’t mean it is respectful, nor does it show any proper etiquette. It has come as far as that “electronic gadgetry upends traditional rules of etiquette,” even as much as to say it has become a ridiculous trend that has occurred in society. Overall, cell phones have overtaken our society, and the rudeness has to stop in this “public display of disaffection.”

Only in a Fairytale

Only in a Fairytale
“I don’t believe for a moment that a perfect mate exists,” advises a grandmother to her granddaughters who are in search of a relationship. In the passages “Puce Fairy Book” by Alice Major, and “Forget Prince Charming” by June Callwood, two women express their opinionative views on relationships and how “[one] cannot expect perfection.” Both women distinctively underline the concept that a person should not expect flawlessness in a mate’s ways, but rather find positives about them and love them for who they are. Alice Major, the author of “Puce Fairy Book”, would reassure the advice June Callwood gives to her granddaughters in the article “Forget Prince Charming”.
In the poem “Puce Fairy Book”, by Alice Major, the concept of unrealistic, fairytale expectations of ones companion is discussed. The speaker is put under pressure to live up to what her lovers’ hopes for from her, which is compared to fairytales. Her lover wants “braids of hair like ropes, stairs that only [he] could climb,” yet she responds her hair would never grow long enough. He also states how he wants a woman who has never been kissed, however “other princes had made it through [her] forest.” After multiple gestures are made to convince the speaker to adjust herself to perfection, she “declined, with thanks, [and] honor.” By performing the act of declining her love, she can endeavor to live for what she wants to, and is not pressured to conform to anothers infinite expectations.
In the passage “Forget Prince Charming”, by June Callwood, the theory “that a perfect mate exists” is not very likely, and that perfection is not necessary for happiness.
The speaker is a grandmother, who gives influential advice on finding a significant other to her granddaughters. She expresses that “no human relationship is friction-free”, proposing that nobody is perfect, and we should love people for the positive aspects of them rather then what they don’t have. She even goes as far as saying that “a perfect mate…would not be a heavenly match for [her] because [she] is imperfect and [they] would clash.” The grandmother also enthuses how successful mating is not all about finding the perfect person, but finding someone that you can compromise, love and be happy with. Overall the grandmother has developed appreciation for non perfection, as provides her granddaughters on information to not have unrealistic expectations when finding a relationship.
Alice Major, the author of "Puce Fairy Book", would justify the advice that June Callwood gives to her granddaughters in the article "Forget Prince Charming". Both Alice Major, and June Callwood, expressed that “[nobody can] expect perfection,” and that people should live for themselves. Alice Major would concur on the idea that June Callwood expresses, that in relationships imperfections are not a burden, but rather something both companions usually share. Alice would also agree the concept that “all long term couplings survive on the mutual ability to compromise,” so rather then have unattainable expectations of a significant other, the two should compromise on their expectations, and love their companion for however they decide to live their lives. Overall, Alice Major, concurs on June Callwood’s idea that people should live for themselves, and not try to live up to unrealistic expectations of others.

Mufasa
The blistering heat of the Nigerian summer scolded the eyes of Mufasa. The effects of dehydration protruded her face; her skin as dry as sand granules after a prolonged desert drought. Her impoverished body was a mere skeletal outline compared to the average person. On her head she wore a rag, which would simply keep her preserved from the sun. Her small, red, beady eyes were exquisite; however it was hard to be oblivious from her sorrows. The hands of the Nigerian elder looked as if a single drop of water had never come in contact with the unmaintained surface of her palms. In her mouth lie a cigarette. Draped around her body, was a lengthy, ragged up dress, which covered her like dust on the mantle of a dormant antique fireplace. Blisters looked as if strategically scattered all over her shins, as one was present almost every square inch. She wore no shoes. The calluses on the underside of her feet were rough rocky edges at the basin of a mountain.

"We've got to get out" (Assignment #4)
"This is it," scolded Lebron, "we've got to get out of here!"
Joseph looked up at him and pleaded, "Please Lebron, if you try to escape our chance of parole is done for!"
A heinous look of anger emerged on Lebrons face, as he dictated, "We must leave! These white men have tried to get me to drop the soap for the last time!"
"They... they... they did what to you? Why haven't you mentioned this to me before," replied Joseph sympathetically to his acquaintance.
"It's too embarrassing..."
"Lebron please," insisted Joseph, a look of sorrow upon his face, "I could have helped you."
"I don't need no help from no white boy!" emphasized Lebron, with a look of displeasure upon his face.
"You can't keep letting them do this to you."
"Exactly why I want to leave this putrid place" proclaimed Lebron, looking down at the ground in embarrassment.
An evil smile suddenly came upon on Joshephs face as he whispered, "We can kill them you know."
"You know," responded Lebron, "that may not be such a bad idea!"
"What do we have to lose, we're already in here for life"
"I'll start to sharpen my toothbrush tonight."
With a sinister smirk, Joseph muttered, "I'm going to love the look on their faces next time they try their gimmicks."

A Dangerous Imagination (Assignment #1)
A Dangerous Imagination
The demonic sound of bombs pierces my ears. Boisterous cries from the trenches soar across the battlefield as the putrid smell of rotting flesh reaches my nose. This is evil. I cannot believe my eyes. I attempt to crawl out of the deep abyss of a trench I am in, and at the top, I am severed by the array of bullets. I collapse, my body becomes a ragdoll and I make contact with the ground. Within the blink of the eye, I am now wearing a black and white jail like suit, and I have been apprehended by the Nazis. The look of terror and dismay engulf the faces of the people around me. I fall into a deep trance, looking at the razor blades of the contorted barbwire fence when I begin getting dragged off to shower with my peers. Inside the building, possessed with fear, I suddenly see a dark green gas seeping through the crevices of the walls when I close my eyes, and suddenly feel violent rumbling inside a World War II army tank. As I extend and gaze out the top port hole, I see thousands of soldiers marching in our mammoth fleet. The sinister sound of airplanes reveals, and the German Luftwaffe appears. Nazi planes paint the sky. As I see a machine gunner coming, I close my eyes, and reappear in Japan where children are screaming in distress. Mothers have a tight grip on their children and the look of concern is present on the face of my surroundings. Tears are beading down the face of the elderly and as the screaming begins to settle, the concise sound of a large aircraft is exposed. We look up in confusion as a gigantic bomb covers the horizon like a bed sheet. Just as it is about to make its torrential destruction, I awaken from my dreamlike state in bewilderment. Mrs. Sutherland did not notice that I dozed off in history class again.

Dear Sir:
I appreciate your asking of my opinion, and I must be as non partisan as I can. I must say I am dismayed by the fact that dear old Gunter Grass was the commandant at a Nazi concentration camp inPoland during WWII and directly saw the deaths of over 15,000 people. Gunter Grass has made quite the impact on our town, however, his old ways must not be overlooked. For the horrendous crimes he committed, the perpetrator must face consequences. If we let this murderer live a free life, after we already know that he destroyed the lives of thousands, we have not given the respect to the victims of the Nazi reign of power. For the reasons of satisfying the victims families, being consistent with the law, his lack of guilt, he's a danger to society, as well as for the sake of our vilage, Mr. Grass should be punished.
In honor of the victims, and their families, the insidious decisions of Gunter Grass throughout his commandment at the Nazi concentration camps, punishment must be forced upon. Mr. Grass directly saw the deaths of 15,000 people, and destroyed many families. It would be a disgrace if he was able to roam free even though he was the cause of thousands a premature death. Children, women, men and elders who had so much to live for, and he unmercifully sent them all to death. In respect for the survivors, the victims, and their families, the ruthless Nazi should face reasonable punishment for his crimes.
In order to keep a practical society and operational justice system, the laws and who they affect must be consistent. If a man who had not been mayor of our village, donated to many charities, or been a "model citizen" had been under accusation of the devastating crime, he would instantly be put in jail. What do you think would happen if it was discovered by the villagers that our own mayor is letting a sinister convict walk our streets? Gunter has faced the effects of a heavy conscience since his crimes, and therefore the reason he has tried to become a model citizen. He has been trying to give back to society for what he has done. I applaud his efforts; however nothing can make up for his felonies! Consistency is key, and he should get the same treatment as the everyday person would.
Gunter Grass' lack of conscience proves he is not sorrowful of his previous actions. He knows that he has guilty, and he didn't turn himself him, or even acknowledge that he had done something wrong. He has been trying to make up for what he has done by donating and trying to be a good citizen, because he was an evil man in the past. If Mr.Grass was the perfect citizen, and was worthy of not facing prosecution for his treacherous deeds during WWII, he would have admitted to his wrong doings. If Mr.Grass had turned himself in, and shown some signs of remorse, then considering to dispose of the evidence may be probable.
"Delay always breeds danger." Since you have revealed evidence that proves Mr.Grass controlled the death of thousands of humans, you never know if he will ever want to feel that power again. How do you know Gunter Grass doesn't like the control he gets when choosing how a person dies? He is a danger to our society, and we have know way of knowing if something will set him off that makes him think of how he liked being a Nazi. As portrayed in the quote "Delay always breeds danger," we can't risk the lives of our village people by letting this man of a morose past run free among our streets.
Gunter's actions must be exposed to keep order in our village. People must find out what he did from you, rather then accidentally come accross it, and ruin the relations between the village and government. A murderer of 15,000 or more must be held accountable for his actions, and the villagers must know they are safe from his despair! You, as mayor, must not risk the accountability between you and the villagers just to save one treacherous war criminal.
Once again, I deeply appreciate you seeking my opinion on the matters of Gunter Grass and his war crimes. However, I leave the decision to you. You will have to decide if you want to put a convict over the justice system, and the society as a whole. I must leave you with one more question however. What would you want to do with him if your family was one of the 15,000 he needinglessly slaughtered?
Sincerely,
John Doe
